§ 2-134. Bond required of those authorized to carry firearms.

  • (a)

    Each officer, employee and agent of the city who in the course of his official duties is authorized to carry any firearm shall, before entering upon the discharge of his duties, give bond to the city, with corporate surety and in such amount as may be fixed by the city council but not less than $3,500.00, conditioned upon the faithful performance of his duties and for the payment of all damages, judgments and decrees resulting from the negligent or unlawful use of such firearm by himself or by any other person with his knowledge and consent.

    (b)

    The city solicitor shall approve all bonds required by this section with respect to their form and legality, and the premiums shall be paid by the city. The city clerk shall approve all bonds required by this section with respect to their sufficiency unless otherwise provided at any time by the city council.

    (c)

    All bonds required by this section shall be in the custody of the city clerk.
